I mean, if you got beat up, you'd end up being all bloody and shit. Oh yeah! And that game did stuff that they still don't do in games nowadays. I don't think to this day that I've played a game that was similar in gameplay. View image here: -But that game caught me from the beginning as awesome. It was really aggravating! But once I got past it, I was able to beat the game, and like everyone else who did, I was fooled into thinking there would be a sequel, which, to my knowledge, never happened. It was first released in 1995 for MS-DOS, with the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn ports following in 1997. Crusader: No Remorse, the classic sci-fi action game from 1995 is getting a new home with ScummVM and you can go ahead and test it right now. Even though I don't own nor have I even tried any of the Crusader games myself, what I do know is Crusader: No Remorse was originally designed for DOS and as such DOSBox is typically installed alongside any and all DOS games for playability and it does this by slowing down the game just enough for the player to enjoy the game as it was back in the days the game was initially released. I got stuck at this one point where one of those enemy aliens was waiting at the end of this bridge, and every time I tried to get across, I think he would either turn off the power (energy bridge) or he would kill me somehow, instantly. Crusader: No Remorse is an action game developed by Origin Systems and published by Electronic Arts. They did quite a few easter eggs of this nature.īioforge was awesome man. That allowed Origin to float along until UO came out (smart financial move) but the lack of creatively new titles in their portfolio was crippling.Yes, SS is from the same company, so the S.H.O.D.A.N. When EA took over Origin, they killed pretty much every project in the cooker that wasn't close to being a shipping product. The need for corporate ownership to smooth over the high production costs just makes it harder to innovate. weren't also brilliant with their own products. Now? They're dead and their franchises are nothing but IP in the EA portfolio. They weren't the only brilliant studio to go under, either- I personally think they were the best, but that's not to say that Microprose, Bullfrog, etc. Prior to the dark times of EA, so much incredible brilliance came from Origin that it's almost hard to believe. Skipping past the obligatory "this genre has been replaced by 3D/FPS shooters" comment, I really believe that this type of game is dead because the life has been sucked out of the creative side of the industry. These games trace their development to the time right before Origin was bought by EA. A working title of Crusader: No Regret was No Quarter and Origin. One guy, big weapons, lots of stuff that can be blown up. The Crusader games feature full motion video (FMV) sequences with live actors. Quote:Originally posted by Egocrata:Why we don't see games like that anymore? It is a simple concept.
